With all the fires going on in Southern California I thought this would be a great time to talk about a home survival kit.
We keep a duffel bag in our garage with the following items listed after the jump. A lot of people like to keep more than what’s on this list, but I like having everything in one place that I can easily grab.
First off Food. You can go a few different ways with this. We have Emergency Rations, They taste like dirt but they do the job and last longer then your other choices.
If you want something that tastes a little better, you want MRI’s they are what the military gives to troops in the field. They taste like the freeze dried food I ate when I was a boy scout.
Next you need water I keep both water rations and water purifying tablets. You just don’t know what you might need.
So now that you have some food and water, it’s time for some accessories. The most important thing is a crank radio/flashlight/cell phone charger. You need to know whats going on and keep your phone charged.
Next a Survival kit. This is just as important as the Radio. It should have a first aid kit and a blanket at the minimum. We also have a separate first aid kit but many Survival kits include a first aid kit.
I also recommend a Multi Tool of some kind.
What do you keep in your survival kit? Let me know in your comments.
