Dear Thursday: If Insurance Covered Plastic Surgery, What Would You Get?

botoxSo, if  you’ve noticed that many of your favorite male actors are looking a little more fresh and pretty these days that’s because according to reports, more men or opting for botox. Of course, there’s already a cutesy name for this procedure: “boytox.” Read more about it here.

Anywho, I’ve never had any work done, but this trend got me to thinking about what I would have done if I weren’t already using all of my disposable income on silly things like art, charity and retirement savings. I don’t think I’d do botox, just because it’s injecting poison into your face, and I want to see studies come back 20 years from now, proving that this practice is safe.

However, now that I’m in my 30′s, I can’t say that I’d be opposed to a post-planned baby #2 breast lift and tummy tuck. I live in California, and it’s a little hard being surrounded by moms with banging post-child birth  bodies. Again, I wouldn’t be able to bring myself to spend this much money on vanity, but if it was covered under my insurance plan, I might opt for it.

How about you guys? If insurance covered plastic surgery, what would you get?

I know this seems vain, but even without insurance I have been pondering getting implants, a breast lift and a tummy tuck after our second child (God willing).

I had my insurance pay for my breast reduction in 2001. And because recovery was so uncomplicated, Im not hestitating as I think about it again. Although the reduction was more medical, Im all about a tummy tuck and some lipo right now. When I sell my house, thats what the profits are going to :)
