Hey, you know my undergrad, since it was your grad... we were Division III. It had no bearing for us. And I still love it.

Yesterday was a perfect example of conference tourney madness: Pitt, Kansas, Oklahoma and Clemson were all upset by vastly inferior teams. Then, in the nightcap, Big East arch-rivals Connecticut and Syracuse played a game for the ages, with the Orange upsetting the Huskies in sextuple–yes, six!–overtime.

You know what? I kind of can't bear March Madness -- though you make a good case for why it should appeal. If you went to a co-ed school, it must be nice knowing that your team has a chance no matter what. But of course I went to an all women's college and I hate, hate, hate UMASS, soooo... I just can't get all that mad in March.

Although the other day, I was just hinking about how March really needed some kind of holiday. I suppose this will suffice.

I love the first couple rounds the best: wall-to-wall non-stop games, and of course this is when most of the upsets occur.

Perhaps this will be the first year ever a #16 seed topples a #1. It's bound to happen sooner or later.

Debra hates basketball, but last year even she saw the excitement and appeal of the tourney, what with Davidson's miraculous run to the Elite Eight.

I'll never forget the first year I started following college basketball. It was '89-'90, UConn's first good season. Round of Sweet Sixteen, Huskies vs. the Clemson Tigers. With 1.0 second on the clock, Scott Burrell threw a bomb the length of the court which Tate George caught, turned, shot and hit to win the game for Connecticut. Unbelievable.

I cannot wait! Since New Years, I've been following UCLA, and by extension most of the Pac-10. So now I have someone to follow through this prelim round & then the rest of the tournament. Very excited.
