Dream Man Crazy! [Ask Dr. Miro (What You Didn’t Learn In Health Class)])

Dear Dr. Miro,

I met my Dream Man and am on the springboard of crazy. I can’t get him out of my head. Since he’s a famous actor, there are many shots of him online so I find myself staring at photos of him much more than I should and losing myself in daydream. We only spoke for a few minutes and yet I can’t stop thinking about him. I don’t want to Facebook him, even though he said I could, because that embarrasses me and I wouldn’t even know what to say. How can I stop thinking about him? Should I stop thinking about him? Please don’t say I should go out and hook up with someone else. I did that and it did not suit me. I guess I’m just a dreamy lover of love…

Sincerely,

Hopelessly Devoted to My Dream Man

Dear HDTMDM,

If this is truly a dream of yours, follow it. See where it may lead! What’s the worst that can happen? At least you will have tried. All you have to lose is the fantasy and if you are OK with that, I say: Go for Him!! I know that a lot of people may advise you to forget about this Dream Fellow and move on with your life, but I am not sure as to where you are supposed to move.

We are encouraged to turn many of our dreams into realities so why not in the realm of Romance? When I look around at what people (possibly including you) are capable of accomplishing, things like raising families, starting their own companies, creating better worlds for us to live in… questions about talking to the woman or man of your dreams seems like a no-brainer. Putting yourself out there and following your desires in a safe and sane manner is to be respected.

Too many of us do not give ourselves permission to go after what we want. This can result in regrets and nobody wants more of those. Whether you are speaking professionally, emotionally, sensually or socially, shoot for the stars! Fear can be a great deterrent but you will find the worst that will happen is something may not work out quite the way you desired.  (Sometimes the worst that can happen is actual attainment of a dream because then what do you do?) There is no reason to live a life filled with “What If’s”. Write a clever, sweetly worded message to him TODAY and see what happens.

Lust & Happiness,

Dr. Miro
