Fiercely Lovin’ Intercontinental San Francisco [Gal About Town: Fashion and Travel at Your Fingertips]

Welcome back Fierce Nerds! I hope you have all been well during our “Summer Vacation” This week I’m back to tell you why I “fiercely” LOVE the Intercontinental San Francisco Hotel.

As you know, I love San Francisco for countless reasons. One of those reasons happens to be the Intercontinental. Not to be confused with the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental, this location is at 888 Howard Street. It’s an eco-conscience hotel with a modern vibe with slight retro throwbacks. It’s fashionable and sleek. Their customer service is superb. And then, there is The Club Room.

Like the best of the best in Airport Lounges, the ICSF’s Club Room is a traveler’s haven. Throughout the day they offer, complimentary breakfast, appetizers, high tea, aperitifs with snacks, desserts and a nightcap drink. They have their own concierge service, a staff that can meet your every need, and space to sprawl out, read a provided newspaper or magazine, get work done, or just have drink and enjoy the city view.

The Club Room is accessible if:

a) you book a “Club Room Level” room
b) are a Royal Ambassador with IHG or
c) if you pay the extra $40/day fee.

In my opinion, it is worth the $40 fee, although I’ve never actually had to pay it with the Royal Ambassador status.

The staff there is truly wonderful. Even though my husband and I only stay at the hotel once or twice a year, the staff always remembers us by name and our previous conversations. While JP and I aren’t fussy travelers, whenever we do have a need or request, the staff is always quick to respond. We’ve never had a problem. Whenever we are there, it feels like we are visiting old friends.

As for the complimentary food, check out the photos below. Their breakfast is quite the spread. Eggs, bacon, waffles, pastries, fruit, smoked salmon, etc…it goes on and on. Their fruit is always ripe to complete perfection, and on the weekends they provide endless mimosas. Throughout the day there is always something to snack on, and it is always top quality food. My husband’s favorite is their last snack of the day: freshly baked cookies with a cognac. My favorite is when they offer hors d’oeuvres and cocktails from 5-7pm. They have a great selection of appetizers and beverages, and for me, there can never be too much wine and cheese!

When you are ready to check out from the hotel, there is no need to wait at the reception desk, just go to the Club Room and they will take care of everything. While you wait for your final bill, the staff brings you lovely chocolates and a beverage of your choice. They honestly make every effort to treat you like actual royalty.

The rooms at the ICSF are cozy, yet clean, and many have amazing 180 degree views of San Fran. The hotel’s restaurant is one of the top rated in the city. The hotel itself is in the heart of the city and around the block from the Bart, making it easy to get to any part of San Fran you need to. But most of all, I love the Club Room. It is why we choose to stay at the ICSF each and every time.

Now Boldly Go!
