Foot Fetish! [Ask Dr. Miro: What You Didn’t Learn In Health Class]
Dear Dr. Miro,
Is it crazy to love women with pretty feet? And I mean LOVE.
Foot In Mouth (Yes PLEASE)
Depends on your definition of crazy. Sounds like you may have a bit of a Foot Fetish. Pronounced sexual interest in feet or footwear, are the most common sexual body fetishes. As long as your “love” for women’s feet does not detract from your quality of life or lead you down a path like the Baltimore Foot Stomper or Toe Suck Fairy, it is quite all right. Foot Partialism is predominantly a male predilection for female feet and their coverings (stockings, heels, etc.) but there are always exceptions. Sometimes the desire lies in the odor, coloration and/or the shape and size of the footsies. The first documentation of Podophilia was in 1220 AD!
Recent investigations have shown that the part of the brain that recognizes the feet, more specifically the toes, is right next to the genitals. Sex nerd Emily Nagoski has drawn us a detailed map
This makes the study of Podophilia that much more intense! A very simple crossing of signals can result in a jolt to the brain signaling extreme sexual excitement.
There are other societally driven reasons to for adoring women’s tootsies. Since feet are mostly hidden beneath socks and shoes, seeing them could be as exciting to see as it was to our Great Grandparents regarding a glimpsed bit of limb! (Mind you, that was back in the days when even the legs of a table or chair needed to be covered so as not to upset anyone’s decency.) Theories abound as to where the desire to worship feet originates. The traditional idea that as a child one saw mostly feet due to crawling around on the floor tends to satisfy a lot of folks. Freud claimed it is because feet resemble the shape of a penis but Sigmund would say something like that. Rubbing up against Mom’s feet, shoes and legs as a toddler could have imprinted the connection between being cared for, loved and ladies feet. This kind of stuff gets translated later as sexual. Both Tommy Lee and Elvis Presley have claimed their adoration of women’s feet was due to massaging their mother’s feet as small boys or “rubbing her little sooties,” as the King was fond of saying.
And look at the company you are in! Here is a VERY incomplete list of some notable foot fetishists: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ludacris, Ricky Martin, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Big Boi, Jay Leno, Casanova, James Joyce, A-Rod, Jack Black and Andy Warhol.
Celebrate your love of women’s feet but keep in mind there is more to a woman than what is below her knees.
