Philosophical Monday: So Sick
So I have another sinus infection, so I’m afraid that I don’t have a lot to say this morning, except thank the Lord for Progresso soup. And seriously, why haven’t they come up with a sinus and cold medicine that pregnant women can take? I don’t think they’re even working on the problem, and they really should be, b/c right now I’d be willing to pay soooo much money for something that would put me out of misery and let me sleep this off. Just sayin the tea and honey ain’t cutting it. Grumble, grumble.
Oh, and for those of you who have been suggesting neti pots, please let me know where to get one in the comments.
Achoo!
etc
.
Any natural food store incl. Whole Foods should have a neti pot. Call ahead to save yourself the bother of a wasted trip. You will feel soooo much better.
The reason they're not working on cold remedies for pregnant women is because pregnancy raises the risk of litigation! Drugs that specifically help pregnant women and have posed no risk (like diclectin/bendectin for hyperemesis) have been taken off the market because of litigation. It's maddening, really.

be warned: while i hail the power of the neti, it does take some getting used to. the position of the head can be particularly tricky; once you figure it out, it's easy to recreate, but placing it correctly so that water doesn't go down your throat can take some fiddling.
i agree with cassandra's method of obtaining a neti pot. you can also buy one here: http://www.himalayaninstitute.org/store/product/d…
neti isn't necessarily a fix-all, but if you can't take meds, it will definitely help clear out the gunk and help ease the headaches.

i also found that i needed to use filtered water and exact measurements otherwise it was painful! i agree with the redhead, though, it does take getting used to but once you do, you will rarely ever want to reach for a sudafed again!
