Procrastinate on This! The Princess and the Frog [Full Trailer]!!!
Okay, if you’ve been keeping up with this blog, then you know how beyond frickin excited I am for The Princess and the Frog aka The First Black Disney Princess. I’ve written about it here if you want to get on board the fierce anticipation train with me.
So yes, I just about fainted with excitement when I saw that there’s now a full trailer out for the movie. It looks SO good and I’m already making plans to leave Betty with CH or a babysitter, so that I can go see this on the first day it’s out, even though it’s out in LA and NYC on November 25th, the day before Thanksgiving. Sadly the rest of you will have to wait until December 11th to see it. How unfair is that?!?!?
Anyway, check out the trailer below.
Black? It looks like she spends a good portion of the movie as The First Green Disney Princess.
Seriously, given the U.S. demographics, it's pretty weird that there have been Asian, Native American, and Arab princesses but no Black or Latina princesses so far.
Jezebel said the same thing! But you said it first. :) I would be disturbed that the first black princess and prince are green for the majority of the movie — except I like this twist and I think it will really add to the plot.
Now if we could just a princesses that wears glasses, all of my dreams would come true…
yeah, they have disney princess eyewear (frames for prescriptions – don't ask how i know this), but no princess has worn glasses… Belle should have had reading glasses at least.
the art, backdrops, etc., look pretty amazing in this film. i just hope the writing is decent.

I want Betty to by five already so I can take her to see it

It is a shame that it took this long to get the "The First Black Disney Princess." But Disney is not the greatest at progressive visions of women (e.g., all the female leads look alike regardless of ethnicity, all are impossibly skinny, etc.). But i am glad to see that the moment has finally arrived! And I am even more pleased to see that she has a darker complexion. For some that will not mean much, but for me that means the world. I will definitely be there in December!

Yay!!!!! Néva's never been to the movies (she's only 4) but this might be a really good first one to take her to. If it isn't too scary. Or overly focused on adult-style romantic love. Sigh…I guess I'll have to go see it first.
