We are the 99%: Buying Lingerie when you aren’t a Victoria’s Secret Model [Gal About Town: Fashion and Travel at your Fingertips]...

If you haven’t noticed the catalogues, emails, store displays, and company Facebook pages: Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! This is the one day out of the year when we are expected to be at our sexiest. We are overloaded with advertisements of svelt bunny-like women looking extra perky and desirable in their unmentionables. We all begin to think, “How cute, so-and-so would love it if I wore that!” Then with lace and frills dancing through our heads we go to Victoria’s Secret and grab that hot little number we saw, go to the dressing room, try it on, and cry.  What you see in the mirror is nothing like what was in the catalogue…Did I grab the wrong thing?…Wait maybe it’s the wrong size…No…Perhaps the lighting? Oh wait, that’s right, I’m not a Victoria’s Secret model, and I haven’t starved myself for two weeks and taken 4 hours a day to workout. So what to do now? God didn’t make you a VS model, but He did make you beautiful, and I firmly believe that you should shake what your maker gave you- but in what makes you feel sexy, not what mass marketing tells you will feel great. So erase those preconceived notions from your head and dress for what makes you feel confident. Your partner will be turned on by your confidence more than your articles of clothing-of which will most likely be removed shortly after being put on anyway! So stop the shame spiral and embrace your confident, sexy you! Dress to flaunt your assets. Do you have amazing legs, make those the focal point by wearing something short or with a slit. Love your elegant shoulders and collar bone? Wear something strapless or with very thin spaghetti straps....
