24_fame_lglRemember. Remember. Remember. Remember….. FAME! Who doesn’t want to live forever, raise your hands… Okay, you in the back row can leave the room, the rest of you stay.

This week we’re gonna have a nice little chat and I’ve found some fun video material for us to watch illustrating my renewed love for that trashy old broad we’ve all seen before… FAME!

Now some of you may already know this, but there is another big studio remake in the works that will hit theaters in September and you guessed it: they are polishing that bitch up for round two and I actually can’t be more excited — seriously. Check out the teaser:

With a good almost 30 years of distance, I think this revival/ remake/ redo looks fresh and intriguing. It doesn’t hurt to mention that Debbie Allen, Bebe Nuewirth, and Megan Mullaly all have their roles in this new school’s faculty.

I should also mention that not only did I enjoy the original film, but I also have a place in my heart for the TV show that soon followed. Looking at clips of this show is like watching a community theater putting on a musical version of my undergraduate experience. It’s kind of saccharine and amazing all at the same time! I’ve included a few clips for you after the jump, as well as other little messed up goodies I just know you’ll want to feast your eyes on!

Here’s a little tip everyone: Never park in front of this school, those kids will be dancing on your car faster than you can say leotard!

Fame: Irene Cara and the terrible and fun video that was birthed…

End of the first episode of the TV show Fame:

Gayest Episode by far had to have been their Wizard of Oz episode. I think this episode gave me nightmares…

Somebody should tell those kids, you really don’t want to live forever… Here’s a clip from one of my favorite dark comedies: Death Becomes Her

And to take us out in style, one of the creepiest finds i’ve made on youtube in quite some time… A very lonely woman with way too much time on her hands has taught her dog to “perform” to “I Sing The Body Electric” from Fame… just wow…

Here's the thing about Fame. Fame is a great movie. One of my favorites, until I actually attended a conservatory as a writer and not as an actor or dancer and then there was the freshman class that actually thought conservatory would be like Fame. I still remember the singing. Oh the singing!!! And the overly-dramatic personalities. Oh the drama!!! Shut-up, shut-up, shut-up!

So though I used to love the movie and watched every single episode of the series as a kid, I now view Fame as a sort of horror film.

That all said, I will definitely go to see the remake.

Oh and thank you for the TV show clips. Walk down memory lane while I call the SPCA on that woman who trained her dog to perform to "The Body Electric"

There is no way it can be good as the cheesy delicious and oh so scrumptious original. But it looks better than that Hilary Duff movie that came out a few years ago. The one about all those talented singers and dancers in school. Remember that?

I loved the original movie but this trailer just doesn't do it for me. I want to like it.

I am so putting this into the "Saved Section" of my Netflix Que (which is what I do with all cool movies that I plan to see but know I won't because I have a 13 month old)!
