Thought Chuck: Detroit Rock City Edition [April 7, 2011]
According to the 2010 census Detroit lost a quarter of its population since 2000, which calculates out to 1 person every 22 minutes.

I live in Detroit and these statistics don’t seem accurate. While a lot of people are leaving, one person every 22 minutes sounds extreme.
I think I heard your mayor saying the same thing on NPR. Basically that the census estimates are way off, b/c the city might have under-reported itself.
Yes, the mayor is challenging the results.
