Three Line Lunch: Coffeehouse Labor
a yearlong diary in three-line poems by Jeff Rogers, day 21
Coffeehouse Labor (Swork in Eagle Rock, Labor Day)
At every table a computer; high school and Occidental College students. Girl
On cellphone reads & highlights textbook; back-to-back laptop duets look
Like the old Battleship game; the cute couples, BFFs, geeks, and loners like me.
I loved Battleship!
Me too! Though I never had my own game, always had to play on friends'.
When I was picking the hyperlink for the mention of it in the poem, I saw the wikipedia entry on it, and apparently it was played as a pen and paper game for along time before Milton Bradley made the fun plastic version of it that we loved as kids.
Interesting, eh?
Wow pen and paper. I'd like to try to play battleship that way…Bored? Check out http://www.fierceandnerdy.com
