Dear Thursday: A Lovely Day

Thanks to everyone who checked out the blog yesterday. Wednesday was our highest guest count yet, we’ve met our second high-numbers goal (the one at which I’m allowed to buy myself something pretty to award myself), and we’re thrilled, thrilled, thrilled. Highly advise scrolling down, so that you can see what all of the fuss is about.

Speaking of hot fuss, I’m am so excited about this song that Fierce and Nerdy contributor, Delia introduced me to, “Starlings” by Elbow. I actually have 4 other songs off of this album, but this isn’t one of them, because the iTunes snippet wasn’t nearly long enough to clue me in on the brilliance. iTunes was pretty much made for people like me. I hate having to invest in entire albums if I only like one song, but missing out on songs like this makes feel like I should get back into the art of listening to entire albums. Check out the glorious song that has me in a long-held-belief spiral below:

Speaking of wonderful songs, Kat Dennings suggested “When You Were Mine” by Casiotone for the Painfully Alone track on her iTunes Celebrity Playlist. And since I am particularly partial to effed-up love songs, I’m now convinced that she’s brilliant in real life and that I need to make time to see Nick and Norah like yesterday.

One More: “Break the Concrete” is the first Pretenders song that I’ve enjoyed in a very, very long time. I mean I was still living in my parents’ house, had bad musical taste, and thought “I’ll Stand By You” was the most passionate track ever the last time I liked a Pretenders song. That’s how long it’s been. And if you don’t agree with me about how great this song is, then you are completely wrong. Just so you know….
