Guess The Random Lyric: Final Score

Oh my God, I can’t believe it, but you guys swept me last week! I thought maybe I had stumped you on Friday, but then on Sunday, Thom from the Internet guessed that the last lyric was from “Tomorrow Wendy” by Concrete Blonde AND like Matt from France, he provided a bit of back story with his answer:

It was written by Andy Prieboy (from Wall of Voodoo), but the cover was released by Concrete Blonde on Bloodletting in 1990 BEFORE the original was released. So you could say it’s Concrete Blonde since they released it first… either way, kickass tune.

AGREED. But it’s a brand new week, and I’ve decided to trot out another dark horse, just b/c I seem to have a scary amount of them in my collection. After I discovered this particular artist in college, nobody could tell me she wasn’t the B-O-M-B. For awhile I listened to her 24/7, and this song was my hands-down favorite:

Is it easier for you to say
You never loved me anyway
Or do you hide me in your attic trunk
Like a stowaway

Guesses in the comments, and I’ll see you tomorrow to discuss the answer. Til then, check out the Andy Prieboy version of “Tomorrow Wendy.” His voice doesn’t even begin to match the Concrete Blond vocals, but what stunning lyrics, plus CB lead singer does a guest spot on this track, so best of both worlds. Also, Psycho Ex Game, which Prieboy co-wrote with Merrill Markoe was one of my favorite novels of 2005, so also check that out when you have a chance.
