Oh It’s Tuesday: Unexpectedly Popular Heart to Heart
I don’t want to accuse my friends of liking me better when they can drink and I cannot, but for whatever reason, I have had a record-breaking number of party invites this holiday season. Definitely the most during my tenure with CH and maybe the second busiest after the infamous 2005 holiday season, during which I actually met CH at one of the many, many parties that I attended (he didn’t ask me out for another 7 months, but that’s a whole nother story).
The main point is that it’s nice to still be getting invited places, even though I’m in my 30’s now and probably won’t jump into your hot tub in my pink bikini. Not because I don’t want to, but because I no longer fit into that pink bikini and apparently hot tubs are a pregnancy no-no.
Anyway, I need your help. Just when I thought our weekend might be free, CH goes and gets us invited to a “breakfast for dinner” holiday party, the gag of which is that guests are expected to bring their favorite breakfast item. From what I can see other guests have already promised to bring Hawaiian-style fried rice, French Toast and mulled wine (which I won’t be able to drink. boo!), and a quiche.
I’m a little intimidated, since my usual breakfast is a bowl of Kashi’s Heart to Heart cereal, a box of which I doubt would be welcome at such a clever party. Does anyone have any good knock-their-socks-off breakfast recipes? If so, please let me know in the comments.
Thanks!

Frankly, I would bring the cereal–or bring like some snack packs of Kelloggs cereals–who doesn't remember having Fruit Loops or Corn Pops?
But, if you want to bring something more "special" you could whip up some Egg Nog French Toast (simply substitute egg nog for the egg).
I cannot cook so you're not getting any recipes from me, but I can eat so I'm full of suggestions. Bacon is always a crowd pleaser, omelets with lots of different items never fails and I recently heard that "yellow grits" were to die for.
Cold Pizza all the way baby!
Nothing is easier than Bisquick, baby. I've made this dish & the Impossible Cheeseburger Pie and they are always huge crowd pleasers. http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/recipe.aspx?r…
Vegheads – a good animal replacement is Yves meatless ground sausage. Num, num.
I have a really good black pepper & asiago scone recipe that I found on FoodNetwork.com

It pretty much kicks butt
what about some pastries or something?
Make Monkey Bread. It's easy, and absolutely delicious!!! Here's a recipe I snagged online. I use butter instead of margarine, and pecans instead of walnuts, but other than that, it looks right. Oh, and you'll need a tube or bundt pan. Do you have one?
INGREDIENTS
3 (12 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough
1 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 9 or 10 inch tube pan.
Mix white sugar and cinnamon in a plastic bag. Cut biscuits into quarters. Shake 6 to 8 biscuit pieces in the sugar cinnamon mix. Arrange pieces in the bottom of the prepared pan. Continue until all biscuits are coated and placed in pan. If using nuts, arrange them in and among the biscuit pieces as you go along.
In a small saucepan, melt the margarine with the brown sugar over medium heat. Boil for 1 minute. Pour over the biscuits.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 minutes. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a plate. Do not cut! The bread just pulls apart.
What? I grew up on donuts and birthday cake for brekkie!
But! In Athens we love brunch at the Grit, a fav local eatery. They are all
vegetarian and make a fab gravy for biscuits. Now I know how much Ernessa
loves cooking, so here is the recipe. make your fav biscuits and you are
golden! We made it last night to go with some steamed veggies.
Grit Yeast Gravy Recipe
1 cup (2 sticks) margarine
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup flaked nutritional yeast
2 cups regular soy milk
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 3/4 cup hot water
2 T Worcestershire sauce
Melt margarine. Stir in flour and yeast until blended and continue to heat
roux until mixture begins to bubble. Whisk continuously for 4 minutes.
Continue rapid, thorough whisking and add soy milk gradually. The mixture
will quickly become thick and custard-like. Combine soy sauce, water, and
worcestershire sauce and add to gravy gradually. Blend well after each
addition and do not add so rapidly that gravy gets thin. If the gravy is too
thin, continued cooking will thicken it.
Waffles (to honor your recent trip to Belgium, except that they don't eat waffles for breakfast there)? Huevos rancheros?
Just make a fruit salad and bring some yogurt to spoon on top. No actual cooking necessary.
