One More Thing Before We Go: Rat-a-cutie
Okay, I know that I often use this section to show you icky things involving rats. I really hate rats and feel that you should, too. But even I have to admit that these pics of sleepy rats in soft lighting and super-precious poses are pretty dang cute.
However, things start to get icky again when they open their eyes. I don’t see what’s supposed to be so cute about a rat drinking from a soda bottle. If I saw a rat doing this in my kitchen in real life, I would completely freak.
And this mess is just unacceptable. Eww! Eww! Eww! Don’t kiss the rat.

A good childhood friend of mine has always had pet rats. They're really very nice animals when not bearing the Plague.
Full disclosure: when her rats would crawl on me, I was a little skeezed out. Aversion to rodents is hard-wired and evolutionarily wise.

i had a white rat named pandora in highschool. she was amazing. i got her from a pet store without my parents' permission — needless to say they were not happy — and she super intelligent and a surprisingly affectionate little thing. one of my favorite childhood books was Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, so i was fascinated with rats from an early age.
Rats on the streets and in the subways of new york are a different matter entirely…

Rats are just like any other animal, they each have unique personalities. When wild, crazy and all about survival, when domesticated and cared for, they're adorable and smart. These rats are stupid cute.
