Procrastinate on This! Friday Edition [Sept. 11]

So, right now I’m still working on getting ready for the Technical Emmy’s. As you read this, I’m either getting my nails and eyebrows done at a fancy-schmancy salon or I’m getting my hair did at the Mahogany Hair Revolution — yes, that’s really the name of the salon.

This is just a note to say that I’ve gotten your many, many notes (jeez!) about posting pics of me all cleaned up, since most of you haven’t seen that version of me since the wedding. Don’t worry, I’ll post them. And to answer your online and IRL follow-up question, no, this won’t be like all the times that I said I was going to post something and then … didn’t. I’m a changed woman — plus, my editor asked for pics for the publicity department, so I kind of have to.

But seriously, I’m jealous that some of you might even have time to procrastinate today. I miss my old friend, P, and hope to reunite with her next week. Til then, please enjoy these items as I cannot.

I hate chess, but would definitely give it another go if I could have this Star Wars Lego chess set. Click on the pic for more deets. Source: LikeCool

1. Ugh! I once again can’t remember which Facebook friend hepped me a great site or vid. I have got to come up with a better credit system. But whoever pointed me toward “People of Walmart,” thank you so much, b/c this site is awesome. [People of Walmart]

2. Should Students be allowed to design their own reading list? I kind of think yes. [Jezebel]

3. Graphic artists will definitely appreciate this infomercial parody: [Something to Say]

4. Really? A pole-dancing doll? Are you kidding me? I mean c’mon… [Home of the Urban Chameleon]

5. The below video makes me so happy for Betty, though I wished they had shown more examples of multi-racial people who weren’t in the arts or sports — I mean other than Obama. I really want Betty to look up to other multi-racial people from ALL walks of life … and to become a scientist like her aunt … and to go to Smith … and to eventually marry one of three babies around her age that I’ve already handpicked for her — but no pressure . Thanks to Yvonne for the heads up! [The Rest of Yesterday]
