WRONG!
The French word for taste is goût, with an accent circumflex over the U. The circumflex, or petit chapeau, usually means there used to be an S after that letter (see the word fête, which means party – if you put the S back in it's feste, which we recognize as relating to party in English).
On a quick Mac Dictionary look up of the English word "gout" it hails from Old French "goute," which comes from the Latin "gutta," meaning "drop" ("because gout was believed to be caused by the dropping of diseased matter from the blood into the joints")…. so the French word you're looking for is "goutte" which means "drop", as in a "goute de pluie" (raindrop).
Who's the nerd now Charles? :)
