Three Line Lunch: Top Step Ritual
a yearlong diary in three-line poems by Jeff Rogers, day 261
Top Step Ritual
Vinnie cat eats outside. But I have to guard her from Striker. So I sit on top step,
Steep concrete staircase; look down in bird music through leaf curtain at sparse cars,
Parents walking kids schoolward, distant train, 5 freeway banding hills. Precious pause.
