Oh, It’s Tuesday: SEX AND THE CITY 2
Have you ever had lunch with a difficult friend, and she’s going on and on about something that’s pretty much the same variation of every other problem she’s ever had, snd suddenly you think…
Wow, you’re selfish, insensitive and offensive.
You and I have nothing in common.
Why do you insist on wearing super-high heels to inappropriate places?
Why are you so out of touch with reality? The recession is more than a minor nuisance…
Do you ever read? Seriously, when was the last time you picked up a book, because I’m seriously convinced you haven’t read one in over a decade.
What’s wrong with looking your age? Is it really so bad?
How do you stay so ridiculously thin? I never see you exercising.
Do you have any money in savings or do you spend every dime you have on wardrobe?
You wear waaaayyyy too much makeup.
I’m not sure why I should want to aspire to be you. Being you doesn’t seem that great.
In fact, I’m having trouble remembering why I found you so interesting in the first place.
Well, to tell you the truth I’ve never felt that way about a friend — even the difficult ones. But I did ask all of those questions while watching the boring, 2 1/2 hour product placement ad that was SEX AND THE CITY 2. That’s all.
Amen and pile of Monolos….
I haven’t even seen it yet but your comments are SPOT ON! What made SATC such a great show in the first few seasons is that regardless of their expendable income, most of us could relate to one character or another on some level. Sure, I was a Carrie for a few seasons, but wow, I could not be further from any of them the way it has evolved. I’m probably most like Magda…
I will eventually watch this drivel on HBO, just to put a nail in the coffin. If they resurrect this series, I will protest my local theatres. Who’s with me? = P
let’s just say i was “encouraged” to watch the series by a pervious bf, and actually found myself hooked. then SATC movie came along – it wasn’t bad, but haven’t had the motivation to see SATC2 – and I have a feeling, I’ll feel the same way as you, ETC. I may just watch it to see how fabulous those ensembles are, and then move on, but I’ve heard it ain’t all that this time around. wardrobe change, please!
This is exactly why I didn’t want to see the sequel. Glad to know it was exactly what I thought it was going to be.
SATC 2 came out like six months ago, didn’t it? I mean, I don’t blame you for waiting, but I feel like I’m in a time warp
This “review” is hilarious! I actually just got the sequel from Netflix. My mom and I are planning to watch it. I find Sex and the City to be comical but never got that into it. I just could not ever relate to the characters. When Cary did not have money for the $40K down payment on her condo because she had spent it on 100 pays of $400 shoes I knew that I had nothing in common with these women.
See, I loved that ep, b/c it’s was an epic version of problems that a lot of women were having at that time. I know that if I had saved my money better, I would have had more to put down on my first car. When we had our yard sale before moving I looked at all that stuff and just shook my head. I really do wish I hadn’t spent so much money on clothes.
So I finally watched Sex and the City 2 and I loved it! First, the Liza Minelli cameo was AWESOME! And I actually found some of the themes in the movie to be really spot on in terms of where I am in my life as a wife, mother and professional. SPOILER ALERT: The scene with Charlotte closing herself in the closet to cry because she is completely overwhelmed by her children but was afraid to share those frustrtations “out loud” completely resonated with me. Carrie’s worry about your marriage becoming hum drum. And Miranda’s frustrations about being marginalized at her job by a sexist boss just because she was a woman. I agree with your review, but I believe that under all that annoying shit they do, say, wear and act, their were some themes that today’s women could relate to.
