In my last post I talked about updating my internal hard drive. I did the job last weekend and went off without a hitch. It took about 7 hours with all the formatting and copying. Finally I can get all my music and video’s on to my laptop

I feel a lot of geek pride in this.

This week I was going to write about the baconator alarm clock. It wakes you up to the smell of fresh cooked bacon. But, as it turns out, it’s not a commercially available alarm clock — just a wonderful art project. Sad.

So instead I thought I would give you a little geek chic watch primer for your man. I’m a firm believer in the only real jewelry for a man is his watch and wedding ring.
You can’t change your wedding ring to go with your mood, so with that in mind a watch is always a good gift and you can never have too many watches. Check out some watches that I love after the jump. And let me know which one’s you like best in the comments:

The first company I really like is Penguin. I love most of their watches, and here are a few of my favorites. I would wear this to work or on a date with etc.

This next one is a fun watch. I love the color, and it just seems like a good everyday watch. Orange is etc’s favorite color, and somehow this reminds me of her.

etc has given me a few Diesels as gifts. It’s hard to go wrong with Diesel, and it’s always a safe choice. This is the model I’m currently stalking.

I would wear these next two on a job interview or on a first date — if I still did that sort of thing. They are just a little formal but still a little hip.

I’m wearing a Vestel as I am typing this. If I had to pick just one watch off this list, it’s this green-banded one below. I normally hate big band watches but something about this I love. And the second Vestel with the wood grain is something that I imagine would be worn by one of the characters in Mad Men.

And last, but not least, for the real geek: a watch that tells time in binary. Tokyo-Flash has a bunch of these but I would get this one.
